Directors Training Group has known nothing but constant evolution in the 30 years we’ve been in corporate training. After starting out as the London Language Factory in 1992, we quickly found ourselves doing training far outside the borders of London and in many languages other than English. And given that we immediately specialized in training C-suite level executives, we became known as Directors Languages in 1995, a name that we continue to be known as.
We then saw ourselves expanding both geographically—opening offices in Paris and Doha—and our training offerings. Cultural briefings had always been part of our training catalogue, but as the world became (and continues to become) increasingly globalized and interconnected, cross-cultural communication skills are now absolutely paramount to any company’s talent pool. As such, the demand for cultural briefings has mushroomed, a trend that has also been mirrored by the increasing need for employees at all levels to be competent in multiple languages.
The pandemic has further changed the training requirements of businesses globally. Working from home has meant managers have had to adapt their management techniques, and workers have had to learn new ways of maintaining productivity. Running and participating in meetings on video conferencing platforms, managing projects using online tools, and working in teams spread across vast geographical areas have both increased the need for language and cultural training and also diversified the training needs of every company in world.
